25mm Early Imperial Roman

This period roughly covers a time span beginning with the reign of the Emperor Augustus to approx. the middle of the 2nd century AD. The legions Augustus inherited would mainly still look like the late Republicans of Marius and Caesar. Sometime in the early part of the 1st century AD, the “lorica segmentata” style of armour because usual wear for the legionary. This is the typical “Hollywood” Roman. Various forms of pilum (javelin), gladius (short sword) and large scutum (shield), along with a helmet, completed the legionaries basic equipment. The main enemies of the Romans during this time were Gallic and Germanic tribes in the west and the Parthians of Persia in the east. Add to these the Roman civil wars and the Jewish revolt of the mid 1st century AD and there are plenty of enemies and scenarios for your Romans to fight.
